Researchers present an overview of systematic reviews evaluating mental health interventions for refugees, asylum seekers, and displaced populations.
Migrants who have been forced to leave their home, such as refugees, asylum seekers, and internally displaced persons, are likely to experience stressors which may lead to mental health problems. The efficacy of interventions for mental health promotion, prevention, and treatment may differ in this population. In this video, researchers from the University of York (UK), the University of Verona (Italy), and Universidad del Desarrollo (Chile) examine what existing research tells us. They present an overview of systematic reviews on mental health promotion, prevention, and treatment for refugees, asylum seekers, and internally displaced persons. The findings from this overview will be used to prioritise and inform future Cochrane reviews on the mental health of involuntary migrants.
